we’re coming out of the holidays, into the new year. for a lot of us, the holiday season was the time of year that we fell off to some degree, whether it’s food, fitness, sleep or a combination of all of it.
sometimes we make “coming back” complicated. we feel like we must overcompensate, or that we need something different or new to get back on track. nothing could be further from the truth.
- we are only one meal away from being right back on it with food. within a few meals and a few days, we will already notice the benefits. we don’t need a new way of eating. we don’t need something ultra-restrictive. we don’t need to attempt something extreme that we won’t be able to stick with. we just need to get back to the basics – 100% real food, no carbs in the morning, space between meals and a little carbs in the evening from real food sources. that’s the formula for success for a lifetime.
- we are only one workout away from being right back on track with our fitness. we don’t need to overcompensate with multiple training sessions in a day, or long runs, or hours on a treadmill. we may even benefit from starting back small, a one day on, one day off schedule or 2 or 3 days a week. both are easy to commit to, create the initial habit, and allow us to get over our initial soreness. we don’t need a new workout plan or additional workouts. we don’t need to work out as much as we can. we just need to re-commit to some activity most days.
coming back or getting back on track, can be as simple as making the decision. make the decision in your mind to get back on it. start with your next meal and your next workout. don’t make it any more complicated than that.
